Drogheda United have appointed Dean Haggins as their new Finance Director. The move brings a figure with extensive experience from the Football Association of Ireland and KPMG into the club's executive structure.
Chief Executive Rian Wogan confirmed the appointment this week. He described it as a key part of the club's ongoing development. "Dean’s appointment is another important step in the continued professionalisation of Drogheda United," Wogan said.
Haggins' background
Haggins served as Interim Finance Manager at the FAI, where he was the primary finance contact for the League of Ireland. Prior to that, he spent four years with the professional services firm KPMG. He joined as an Audit Trainee and progressed to the role of Senior Audit Associate before his move into football administration.
His arrival is aimed at strengthening the club's financial management, governance, and long-term strategic planning. The objective is to build a more sustainable operation that can support ambitions both on and off the pitch.
A hometown appointment
For Haggins, the role carries personal significance. "This is my hometown club, so to be appointed to this position is a great privilege for me," he said. He stated his aim is to shape the financial sustainability of Drogheda United, ensuring work off the pitch helps maintain competitiveness on it.
The appointment comes as the first team handles a mixed run of form. Drogheda United currently sit ninth in the Premier Division table with 34 points from 32 matches. Their recent results show two wins and three losses from the last five outings. The club's current standings position reflects the competitive nature of the division this season.
